Our story starts at 1,100 metres in Kato Platres, where the family has been making wine for more than 350 years. The winery once known as Lambouri is now LionSpirit: the same mountain home, with wine, Commandaria and spirits to share.
The family
Three and a half centuries, one village.
Kato Platres is a small village on the southern slopes of the Troodos. Generations of our family have made wine here. For much of that time, visitors knew the estate as Lambouri Winery. LionSpirit carries that history forward and brings everything we make together under one name.

The wine
Cypriot grapes, mountain character.
We work with Xynisteri, Maratheftiko, Mavro and Lefkada, alongside Vasilissa and Promara, two rare Cypriot whites. Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon have their place here too. Cool mountain nights help the grapes retain freshness through a Cypriot summer.
Commandaria is a special part of our cellar: sun-dried Cypriot grapes and time in oak give this historic wine its depth. It is the last pour of every tasting we host.
The bottle that travelled
From Kato Platres to First Class.
In September 2019, Markus Del Monego MW selected our Commandaria Apollonia 1998 for Lufthansa’s First Class Vinothek. A wine from a small mountain village found its place at the front of the aircraft.
That bottle travelled far beyond Cyprus. The wine itself began here, with sun-dried Cypriot grapes and time in oak. Come and try the story in a glass.

Tradition with a spirited streak.
We established a working distillery beside the cellars in 2018. Kingfisher, introduced in 2019 as Cyprus’s first gin, is still made here. Cyprus’s first whisky followed in early 2022 and continues to mature here in former Commandaria casks.
The range also includes zivania, brandy and eleven Anna Kornelia liqueurs. Visit and you can see the stills and cellars before tasting what they produce.
